| Technical Advisory Committe & Development Partners to Meet in Entebbe |

The 30th meeting of the Nile Technical Advisory Committee (NILE-TAC) is scheduled to take place on Monday 26 April 2010, at the Lake Victoria Hotel in Entebbe, Uganda.
Among other things, the NILE-TAC which provides technical guidance and direction to the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) as well as offer advice to members of the Nile Council of Ministers (NILE-COM), will discuss progress of NBI’s programs and project activities including the Institutional Strengthening Project (ISP) implementation and the Subsidiary Action Programs (Eastern Nile and Nile Equatorial Lakes) investment projects. The meeting will also discuss resource mobilization and preparation of NBI’s investments as well as coordination of NBI at national level.
The above meeting will be preceded by that of the Technical Sub-Committee of NILE-TAC on Sunday 25 April 2010. The objective of Sub-Committee meeting is to enable synthesis of the Nile Basin Sustainability Framework (NBSF), Strategic planning, and environmental matters before being presented to plenary NILE-TAC for decisions.
Following the 30th NILE-TAC meeting will be the Strategic Dialogue meeting on Tuesday 27 April 2010, to reflect on high strategic issues that need to be addressed by NBI. And later from Wednesday 28 April, 2010 to Thursday 29 April, 2010 the 7th Annual Nile Basin Trust Fund Committee (NBFT C), will take place. The NBTF C composed of NBI Development Partners will review and discuss the progress, achievements, challenges and key issues of the NBI, including the NBI Institutional Strengthening Project, successful completion of Shared Vision Program (SVP), progress of the Subsidiary Action Programs (SAPs), as well as the NBTF status. The chairperson of the Nile Council of Ministers who is also Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Din Allam will co-chair the NBTF C meeting with a representative of the Worldbank. All the meetings have been organized under the theme of ‘Advancing NBI Institutional Development and Investments’. |
