The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) proudly announces the second round of the Nile Media Awards. The Award seeks to recognise journalists for outstanding reporting on the work of NBI and about the sustainable management of the River Nile water resources in general.
The 2010 Nile Media Awards seeks to recognize outstanding reporting on issues of climate change and variability targeting policy makers with the aim of securing political will as well as support from Development Partners in order to obtain a sustainable financial base. Entries that take into consideration gender mainstreaming will receive special attention.

Journalists from print, electronic and on-line media are invited to compete for awards in the following categories:

  • Feature (print, electronic, on-line)
  • Cartoon (print, on-line)
  • Photography (print, on-line)
The submitted entries should have been broadcast or published in any of the nine Nile Basin Initiative Member Countries of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, between October 1st 2009 and September 29th 2010.
Deadline for submission
The deadline for submission of entries is 30 September 2010. The winners shall be presented the awards during the Regional Nile Day (22 February 2011) celebrations.
