Aucune traduction disponible The Nile Basin Initiative as a partnership led by the riparian states has continuously engaged the Partners in implementing its Programs. Considering the uniqueness and complexity of the NBI, the Partners have formed a strong strategic alliance in forging ahead the development path of the Nile Basin. Unwavering commitment has been exhibited from the onset, process lessons shared and the relevant experiences shared.
ContributionsTo Date the development Partners have contributed over 130 Million US Dollars of the original pledge of US$150 Million. Out of this total program cost, $14.4 million is governments' counterpart funding.InterventionsPartners’ intervention has been both at a formal and at an informal level, besides the specific virtual liaisons in areas to specific Partners. In the reporting period the Partners convened a regular meeting of the Nile Basin Trust Fund Committee in Kigali Rwanda and an informal meeting in The Hague, The Netherlands. NBI appreciates the continued support extended by our Development Partners. The strength of the partnership is continuing to grow with constructive interaction taking place from time to time. Special commendation is extended to the Worldbank for continued support and engagement of the Development Partners on the NBI cause.PartnersThe family of NBI Development Partners comprises of the Governments of; Canada, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway , Sweden , United Kingdom, Finland, Italy, France, United States of America, Germany Other Multilateral Agencies extending financial support are; The Worldbank, European Union and African Development Bank. Other United Nations Agencies extending technical support are: Food and Agriculture Organization, United Nations Development Program The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is executing the Shared Vision Program Projects on behalf of the Nile Basin States. The Development Partners in their recent meetings have highlighted the importance of the Nile Basin Initiative as a vehicle for the promotion of peace in the region. |
