Sustainable development partners
All of the basin countries are engaged in the process of planning and the implementation of plans. These include national development plans, sectoral development plans, IWRM plans, catchment plans and others.
There are also a number of regional organizations in the region, inlcuding the NBI, that are involved in the planning process and the subsequent promotion of multi-sectoral investments within the Nile Basin. While the countries and the regional organisations (so-called Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Lake/River Basin organisations (L/RBOs))have a common aim of sustainable development, there is no common overarching basinwide plan for the sustainable development and management of the shared Nile Water Resource - with agreed goals that would guide the identification of investment projects and other interventions. The NRBMP fills this gap.
